About

About

We are a new church planted out of an AOG community with a heart to see people encounter the life and hope of Jesus. Rooted in the rich history of the Assemblies of God, we are stepping forward with fresh faith for what God is doing today. We believe this church exists so that more people can discover the gospel, find their purpose in Him, and shine His light in our city. At the heart of it all, we simply want to love God, love people, and serve our community.

Our vision

Our church has four practices that shape who we are:

Love

This is the heart of who God is and the heart of who we are. We live out the greatest commandments to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and to love our neighbours as ourselves. We love because he first loved us. This is expressed through our worship and adoration of our Saviour Jesus. We sing with passion and vulnerability and experience the love of God for us as we gather to honour him. We put our love into practice by caring for one another, standing with each other through difficult times and reaching out with compassion and generosity to the community around us.

Learn

God’s desire for his people is that we grow in our faith, deepening our understanding of God and allowing our relationship with Jesus to flourish. As such it will always be our practice to learn together from the Bible, recognising the work of the Holy Spirit in helping us understand and apply God’s word in our personal lives and in wider society. We teach from the Scriptures in our services and encourage all believers to commit to their own personal learning from the Bible as a regular discipline.

Laugh

Our faith is not sombre and subdued. Rather, we are a joy-filled people because of the hope of salvation we have in Jesus Christ. Therefore, we are a people who have fun together. We share meals, play games and celebrate good things! We are a church where you are welcomed with a smile and leave with a smile of your own. We do not downplay or ignore difficulty and hardship but neither do we limit or stifle laughter and enjoyment. Jesus came to give us life to the full and we are committed to enjoying the life he has given us.

Live

We recognise that faith is not just for Sundays and is lived out in our day to day lives as we follow Jesus. We are dependent on the power of the Holy Spirit to live in a way which honours God, so we are committed to welcoming his life-giving presence. This takes place through the creation of space to allow the Spirit to move, and the practice of praying for one another. We will always be a people who are ready to receive from God. We seek God first in everything, inviting him into our work, our homes, our relationships and our hearts. As we do so, we experience his goodness, his faithfulness and his peace that transcends all understanding. In this way, we become truly alive.

Ephesians 2:5

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

Andrew is an accredited minister with Assemblies of God GB and the Pastor of Alive Church Aspley. He is married to Rosie and they have two wonderful, energetic children named Micah and Joanna. Alive Church

Once we were dead in sins, but now we are alive with Christ. It is by grace we have been saved. Let us love, learn, laugh and live in the light of all that God has done for us. We are truly alive!
